About this skill
A launch film made only of type, color and sound. A spec file places words on a beat grid, a small engine draws each frame in headless Chrome with real motion blur, and a script synthesizes the music and hits. No paid service is needed. After the encode, a checks script decodes the file and measures the longest hold, the cut rate, frozen frames, loudness and how close each cut lands to an audio onset.
You say
Make a 15-second kinetic type film for this product at 150 BPM. Big words on every beat, a drop two thirds through, and the name on the last hit.
How it works
- Write the words first: one idea per beat, a turn two thirds through, and the whole line at the end.
- A spec places blocks and sounds on the beat grid. The engine draws every frame from a pure renderAt(t) and averages sub-samples for motion blur.
- A synthesizer writes the track, ffmpeg sets it near -14 LUFS, and the encode fits your size limit.
- The checks script decodes the file and prints the longest hold, cut rate, frozen frames, and the gap from each cut to the sound.
Getting a good result
- Pick a tempo where a beat is a whole number of frames. At 30 fps, 150 BPM gives exactly 12.
- Change the font's width between words, not only its size. A tall condensed word fills the frame in a way a wide one can't.
- Let the words name what the viewer hears, or what is about to happen. The sound and the type then prove each other.
- Read a contact sheet after each render. The checks measure timing, and they can't tell you a cropped word stopped reading.
What you get
- A plain HTML and JavaScript engine with a pure renderAt(t) and subframe motion blur
- Nine blocks: word slam, split, 3D orbit, whip pan, ground swap, width stretch, rest, letter portal and end card
- A complete example spec, the 14-second film on this page
- A music synthesizer that writes a WAV with no samples and no service
- Capture, finish and checks scripts, with no npm packages
Good fit
- Launch and feature announcements with a short, strong line
- Makers without footage, who can run Node and ffmpeg
- Anyone who wants proof of sync, not only a good feeling about it
Not for
- Films with people, products on camera or generated video
- Long explanations: one word a beat carries little detail
How to install it
- Download the ZIP and unzip it.
- Move the folder holding
SKILL.mdinto your agent's skills folder, such as~/.claude/skills/for Claude Code. - Start a new session and ask for what you want to make.
Needs: An agent that reads skills, Node.js 22 or later, Chrome or Chromium, ffmpeg.

FAQ
Is it really free?
Yes. Create a free AdAnt account to download the ZIP. There is no card and no trial timer.
Is this Scenario's Kinetic Film?
No. Scenario's Kinetic Film, linked on this page, is the source of the idea: words on a beat grid, rendered in code, then measured. Its page states no license, so AdAnt wrote this skill from that idea, with its own engine and blocks. The hold and still-frame limits in its checks are the ones Scenario's page states, and its cut minimum sits just under the rate that page reports. Scenario did not write or review it, and its video was not made with this skill. Its version uses Scenario for the music and sound.
Do I need to make music?
No. The skill places one-shots and a bass line on the grid and synthesizes them into a WAV. You can also bring your own track: measure its tempo, and trim it so the first downbeat is at zero.
How do you know the cuts are on the beat?
The checks script decodes the finished MP4, finds each hard cut and each audio onset, and prints the gap for every cut. It also repeats the measure 50 ms late, to show that it can fail. It measures sync and level, not whether the music is good.
